Almost a decade ago the European Space Agency launched the Rosetta Probe as part of a mission to put a robotic lander on the back of a comet. Comet’s are believed to possible vast data repositories floating through outer space. They are believed to hold secretes that could help to explain the formation of the Universe, the ordering of our Solar System, and the formation of Earth’s seas, which has baffled scientists for years. The Rosetta Probe has been hibernating while making its 800 million kilometer journey to get within range of 67p/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, a comet that is just beyond the orbit of Jupiter. The probe will be in range in May and by November a small craft called Philae will be launched via harpoon. Philae will drill into the comet’s core and hopefully by Christmas we will have learned the secrets of the Universe…
